Grammy 2023 Nomination Announcement Date
The most awaited announcement of the Grammy nominations in 2023 for the 2024 GRAMMY Awards is set to take place on Friday, November 10, 2023. All music lovers, artists, and industry outsiders are waiting eagerly for this date to find out the deserving nominees. These nominations are the start of an exciting journey leading up to the grand awards ceremony, where the Grammy 2023 winners will be celebrated for their exceptional and most wonderful contributions to the music world.

Addition of New Grammy 2023 Nomination Categories
One of the most important developments is the introduction of the three new Grammy categories: Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album, and Best Pop Dance Recording. These additions showcase the efforts that have been put in order to improve the Grammys award process, including an increased focus on fairness, transparency, accuracy, and the selection criteria.

Each and every amendment was created exactly with this in mind: openness, transparency, fairness,” Mason Jr. told Grammy in an interview earlier this month. “Every process that we undertake — every amendment or change to our Awards process that gets initiated — is done to make the process more fair, transparent, and accurate. And when we find things that can be improved, we’re in the position now to be able to make those changes, thankfully. Everything you’re seeing now is with the goal of being better and more accurate, honoring more music fairly and in relevant fashion, and making sure the process is transparent, fair, and working.”
Change in Grammys 2023 Nomination Categories
There have also been some changes in the categories for this 2023 Grammys. The categories of Producer of the Year, Non-Classical, and Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical no more belong to the General Field. That means the entire Grammy voting membership can participate in the selection process. “The Big Four” General Field categories —Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist—have seen a reduced number of nominees from ten to eight.
Another significant alteration is the introduction of a minimum requirement for involvement in an album nominated for Album of the Year. To qualify as a nominee in this category, artists, featured artists, songwriters, producers, engineers, mixers, and mastering engineers must collectively play on at least 20% of the album’s playing time. This change ensures a more equitable consideration of artists’ contributions.
Also, the requirement for projects to include at least 51% performance-based material exists no more in the Best Music Film category. This change broadens the scope of eligible entries in this category.
Lastly, the renaming of Best Regional Mexican Music Album (including Tejano) to Best Música Mexicana Album (including Tejano) has been done for a more inclusive approach to recognizing Mexican music styles.
Is Artificial Intelligence Eligible for the Grammys 2023 Nominations?
This year’s Grammys hold no place for the work lacking human authorship. They stated that only individuals of human origin are eligible for consideration, nomination, and victory of a Grammy Award. The Academy went on to specify that works incorporating AI-generated content can qualify for an award only if a human made a substantial and meaningful contribution to the work within the respective category.
SZA, Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen, and so many other stars who are expected to dominate the Grammys this year are just a few months away until the nods are announced on Friday, November 10.
